Colorbond fencing has been available for over 25 years and is a great choice for fencing off your home and is an Australian made product from BlueScope Steel.

Colorbond fencing comes in a variety of colours. Please check our colour chart or download our PDF for all the colours we provide for Colorbond fencing.

  • Colorbond fencing is a low maintenance product:

With just a wash over when dirty, Colorbond fencing looks good for years and panels are very easy to replace once fitted. You will have less overall maintenance to perform than most other fences and stands up to the windy conditions in WA better than most like Hardie fencing.

  • We provide two types of design for Colorbond fencing:

Colorbond fencing can have the same pattern on both side this is called Sameside The other pattern is Trimdeck, meaning that if you fence all around your property you will have the same look on either side of the fence. Different companies may have a different profile on either side of their fencing products. With our fencing you don’t have to argue with your neighbour of “who has the good side” so make sure to ask your fencing contractor what type of fencing they will be using.

  • The Colorbond panels range from 0.9m high, to 2.1m high,

which can include a lattice top for more privacy in your backyard. When you install your Colorbond fence make sure that the fence has been installed to specifications and that no short cuts have been taken i.e. the number of screws used and make sure that it is installed with a concrete base around the posts.

Questions and Answers

Q: If I cut, drill or scratch COLORBOND® steel or ZINCALUME® steel, will it cause the exposed steel at the cut edge or scratch to rust?

A: BlueScope Steel recommends 'cold cutting' coated steel products. If this recommendation is followed, these products will 'self heal', that is, the zinc in the surrounding coating will protect the newly exposed edge. How does this happen? In the presence of moisture, a reaction occurs between the zinc and the steel which results in galvanic protection of the exposed steel, thereby inhibiting corrosion. The degree of protection depends on the thickness of the coating (the amount of zinc), and this is taken into account when Building Standards are formulated. Q: What is the difference between COLORBOND® steel and imported steels? A: The difference lies in performance requirements. COLORBOND® steel complies with a number of Australian Standards and was designed in Australia for Australian conditions. It is manufactured by BlueScope Steel, with a reputation second to none. COLORBOND® steel is not just powder coated steel. It is one of the most advanced steel products in the world, combining the outstanding anti corrosion performance of a ZINCALUME® steel base with a superior paint system. With imported steels you may not have all of these guarantees of quality.

Q: Can I paint COLORBOND® steel?

A: Yes. But before you do, clean the surface. This can be done using a mop or soft bristle brush with non-ionic detergent (such as kitchen detergent) and water. The surface should then be hosed down thoroughly with water and allowed to dry. If the surface is new, it may contain some residual lubricants from the roll forming process. These should also be removed using the procedure outlined above. If possible, new surfaces can be sanded lightly to enhance paint adhesion. This is not required on older, weathered COLORBOND® steel. Once the surface is clean, you can directly overpaint it using two coats (preferably) of a good quality water-based exterior acrylic. Please follow the manufacturer's instructions. If the steel is being used to catch drinking water, also check with the manufacturer that the paint is suitable for this purpose. It's important to note that overpainting COLORBOND® steel will void any warranties issued by BlueScope Steel. Should, for any reason, overpainting be undertaken on behalf of and under instruction from BlueScope Steel, then a future warranty (if any) position will be negotiated between the customer and BlueScope Steel.
